The Lifeboat House

0.5 miles
The Cove, Coverack, Nr. Helston, TR12 6SX
This terrific restaurant boasts a spectacular setting, right on the sea's edge at beautiful Coverack Bay. Built at the turn of the 20th Century, this old RNLI lifeboat house still retains many of its original characteristics - including the old lifeboat ramp - yet has a fresh and contemporary feel. Having been involved in the RNLI's largest ever rescue, The Lifeboat House is certainly of historical significance, while its sublime seafood marks it as a site of interest for foodies.

The casual-dining restaurant specialises in classic French-style seafood dishes, prepared with the finest quality fish. Local catches are delivered each day and, as the chefs never know what's been reeled in, they can only devise the daily menu when the fish arrives. An incredible array of seafood is served here - from sea urchins to octopus and sea bass - and dishes range from langoustine and clam stews to succulent fillets with tasty sauces. Lobster is also available on request. The skilled chefs prepare their seafood with refreshing simplicity, ensuring the fish remains the rightful star of the show. The Lifeboat House also smokes all its own meat and seafood in-house.

All this, combined with a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere, harbour-side alfresco dining area and adjoining fish and chip shop, confidently asserts the award-winning Lifeboat House as a wonderfully unique, must-try restaurant
