Dinos Village Taverna
For authentic Greek cuisine, served with the warmest hospitality, look no further than Dino's Village Taverna, tucked down a small side street in Gloucester. Step inside and the notes of Greek music will immediately transport you to a remote Greek island. Dino himself spent 25 successful years at the helm of his Cheltenham restaurant Dionysis; and seven years ago he opened Dino's Village Taverna, which has been flourishing ever since. A family business in every sense, even his granddaughter pitches in. Dino makes his own mince using the finest local cuts, and travels to London regularly to source Greek halloumi and feta of superb quality. The rest of the fresh ingredients are sourced locally. Dishes range from the well-known dolmathes (stuffed vine leaves), moussaka and hummus to the more exotic tava - a fine Greek hotpot of lean lamb marinated in aromatic spices. For those unfamiliar with Greek cuisine, or simply for the indecisive, the meze offers a choice of 20 hot and cold treats, served over two courses. All of the dishes are prepared to the highest standards, and there's a wide choice of meat, fish and vegetarian options, which you can wash down with a bottle of speciality Greek wine. Booking is essential as Dino's is a popular venue, and welcomes families and groups of friends alike.
