Rose and Crown
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Playley Green, Redmarley D'Abitot, Gloucester, GL19 3NB
Surrounded by stunning, rolling countryside, the Rose and Crown sits in the charming rural village of Redmarley D'Abitot. Positioned in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the picturesque Malvern Hills nearby, the Rose and Crown is the perfect pit-stop for hearty pub fare, following a stroll out in the country air. Here, food is traditional and home-cooked, and having established an excellent relationship with local suppliers, the cooks are able to use a wealth of local produce to provide fresh, delicious dishes. You can dine in the rustic bar area, the beautiful quintessentially English dining room or, if the weather permits, alfresco in the garden - the choice is entirely yours. Dishes change seasonally to include local supplies, and you can expect to find hearty, traditional pub grub on the menu. Delicious vegetarian options are offered alongside steaks and comforting casseroles, and there's always an interesting array of game dishes to inspire you. I chose the pheasant pie, which was bursting with flavour, while my companion plumped for the succulent rib-eye steak, which was so delightfully tender I hardly needed the knife I was provided with. We couldn't resist something from the entirely homemade dessert menu, so we shared a meringue with double cream and port and berry sauce. Real ales, local ciders and cold crisp lagers are available from the well-stocked bar - I can think of no better way to wind down than with a good meal and a pint of something dark and malty in this lovely country pub.
