The Georgian Tea Room
Broadway House is a family-run guest house with a warm and friendly environment. This grade-IIlisted, red brick Georgian house was built in 1776. There are seven en-suite rooms available; each with television, shower room and tea and coffee making facilities. If you are feeling hungry at night, Topsham has many restaurants to choose from; but during the day, the award-wining Georgian Tea Room, located on the ground floor, will satisfy your every need.
The restaurant provides fresh home-cooked food with roast lunch served on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Come to Topsham in the morning and have a freshly-brewed coffee and a cake. During the afternoons, visit for a late lunch or a cream tea. All of the cakes and cookies are homemade by cook Heather Knee. She believes in making the best quality cream tea possible; the scones are freshly baked each day and served with Devonshire clotted cream, Heather's homemade jam and a pot of Twinings traditional English tea. She uses a traditional family farmhouse recipe for the scones, which are baked daily - warm from the oven, you won't taste better. Lunch features such traditional delights as cottage pie, soups and salads, also made to Heather's recipes - perfect for refuelling if walking around the local area.
There's a walled flower garden so during the summer months guests can sit in the sun or, if it's too hot, under the shade of a tree. Now you don't get more Devon than that.
