Mary Arches Street, Exeter, EX4 3AZ
St Olaves Hotel is a small, intimate hotel and restaurant situated in the very centre of historic Exeter. The 15-bedroom hotel and restaurant offers guests a luxurious, tranquil home from home, only a few minutes' walk from the High Street, the new Princesshay shopping centre and Exeter University.

The classic Georgian hotel has undergone some tasteful modernisation since it was acquired by the Livingston family in 2004. In the splendid Treasury Restaurant, the decor is bright and the tables covered with crisp white linen. In many ways, the service matches the surroundings - it fits perfectly, but is not overbearing.

Lunch offers options of either two (£14.95) or three courses (£17.95) of delicious locally sourced food. Fish comes from Fowey and Brixham, while meat comes from local West Country farms and is prepared by award-winning Breton chef David Ollivrin. To accompany the food is a very clever wine list; there are 67 bins ranging from house wine at £17 to vintage Dom Perignon at £145. Pleasingly, there are also nine wines available by the glass.

Perhaps when you visit you'll try fillet of pure-bred South Devon beef with parsnip mash and green peppercorn sauce, or steamed wild sea bass with a butter bean and langoustine bisque - whatever your choice, it's sure to be an indulgent delight.
