This buzzy and friendly independent restaurant offers a unique city-centre dining experience with a London feel. Reopened in autumn 2013 following a major refurbishment and rebrand, Lloyd’s Kitchen opens daily from 7.30am attracting tourists, shoppers and locals for freshly prepared breakfasts, including eggs perfectly served on either a bed of spinach, baked ham or black pudding. Produce is locally sourced wherever possible with delicious homemade bread and cakes baked fresh each morning and served throughout the day. Light lunches, complemented by an extensive wine list, include succulent tempura-battered cod and hand-cut chips with the chef’s homemade tartare sauce. Open for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, Lloyd’s Kitchen also serves a mouth-watering evening menu created using fresh ingredients, which are beautifully and artfully presented. The speciality dish – 21-day-aged Devon steak cooked at the table on a hot lava rock – simply must be tried.
