31 New Street, The Barbican, Plymouth, PL1 2NA
In the most historical part of Plymouth, amongst scenic cobbled Barbican streets, awaits an intimate affair at Himalayan Spice. Housed in an authentic 16th-Century Elizabethan tavern, this eatery seats up to 65 diners and offers a vast and unique array of delicious dishes on its menu. Previously known as the Green Lantern, this establishment has been a popular local haunt for some years now, but has only enjoyed life as an Indian and Nepalese restaurant, run by manager Kishor, over the last ten years.

Momo is one of the most popular Nepalese starters; presented beautifully, these delicate dumpling parcels are packed with a fragrant minced chicken or lamb filling and accompanied by a cool tomato chutney. As a main, the sizzling Himalayan platter of meats and onions, dressed in authentic Nepalese spices, is just the ticket and marries well with the range of rice and naan breads on offer. For dessert, why not explore a little and try the gulab jamun? These sugary dough balls bathed in sticky syrup are a rewarding and flavoursome treat to complete your meal.

Himalayan Spice has a relaxed yet buzzing atmosphere; the service is always calm and visitors are made comfortable. So, for a taste of good Indian-style food with a Nepalese twist, and genuinely caring staff to boot, visit Plymouth's hidden gem - Himalayan Spice.
