The Angel Inn
Traditional decor brings nostalgic charm to the light and airy interior at The Angel Inn. A family- and dog-friendly venue, this attractive pub is certainly worth seeking out, especially on Friday nights when there’s live music to entertain.
We were made to feel most welcome as we were greeted by staff and shown to our table. We found a pleasing combination of traditional favourites and modern dishes as we perused the menu. I opted to start with a tasty prawn cocktail, while my companion tucked in to rich pork and liver pâté with flavourful chutney. We also shared a bread board, which had a variety of delicious fresh breads to dip in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Aromatic lamb tagine followed, which was packed with lamb so tender it melted in the mouth, and was accompanied by light and fluffy spiced couscous. My guest plumped for the 8oz British sirloin steak complemented by field mushrooms, chips and chimichurri sauce. The succulent steak was full of flavour, while the chimichurri proved to be a revelation for my companion. To finish, we couldn’t resist sampling the trifle, which was every bit as satisfying as we’d hoped.
With fantastic food, a friendly atmosphere and a large beer garden in which you can enjoy one of the many tasty real ales available, The Angel Inn is an excellent choice.
