Azur at The Marina Pavilion
This buzzing landmark bistro, which offers panoramic views of the ocean waves splashing at Hastings' beach, is the place to go for a contemporary dining experience. The marine theme continues inside, with diners bathed in shades of blue, purple and green from tinted panels above. Live lobsters drift about a huge tank, to be served later with a variety of delicious suppertime sauces. The menu is full of deep-sea delights; starters such as classic moules marinières, locally caught scallops and tiger prawns with hazelnut sauce sit alongside equally delicious non-fishy choices like halloumi saganaki, tempura-fried with a zingy tartare dip. For your main course you might choose slow-cooked lamb, sizzling Scottish fillet steak, tender pan-fried butterfly sea bass on a bed of puy lentils or delicious vegetarian risotto vert. For dessert we succumbed to mouth-tingling lemon tart and a blackcurrant, elderflower and Madagascan vanilla pudding, which slipped down rather well, before relaxing with a coffee and surveying the wild waters stretching into the horizon.
We shall definitely return one sunny day to enjoy the stunning beach terrace or attend one of the many events the Azur hosts. The friendly Azur team can also expertly cater for weddings, business meetings and special occasions
