23 Bittern Road, Sowton, Exeter, EX2 7LW

Launched back in 2003, the Fresha brand encompasses a welcoming café on the edge of Exeter and a thriving catering business that serves in excess of 200 local companies each year, in addition to catering contracts with local government and education sectors, on-site staff cafés, business conferences, meetings and events. With their focus set on delivering responsible catering through top-quality fare and great service, the people behind Fresha apply their experience and expertise gained at their café base to all of their endeavours, and over time the brand has built up a solid reputation within the local community, and further afield, as a market leader in cafés and catering services.

In recent years, Fresha has lead the way by developing an approach to responsible catering which permeates all levels of the business. In addition to using biodegradable plant-based packaging, wooden takeaway cutlery and recycling their used cooking oil into biodiesel, the team is committed to using local suppliers in order to reduce food miles and increase the freshness of dishes: meat comes from an Exeter-based butcher, bread is freshly made in Marsh Barton, eggs are laid in Aylesbeare and freshly made cakes come from Torquay. In addition to all this, Fresha knows that responsible catering is also bound up with nutrition: as well as providing a healthy menu of tasty food to local schools, Fresha has recently recruited a professional nutritionist to help them improve the food served to all their customers whether contracted, visiting their café or at their external events. In the spirit of transparency, Fresha has partnered with Happerley – an organisation that provides valuable insight into a brand’s commitments to the likes of energy reduction, animal welfare and local communities.

The result of all this hard work is a truly delicious and healthy menu of food and drink, all of which is prepared to order. In the café, breakfast is served from 7.30am and includes mouth-watering eggs Benedict and tempting waffles with creamy Greek yoghurt, honey and fruit compote. Visiting at lunchtime? Treat yourself to a light salad, a freshly made sandwich – fillings range from Coronation chicken to beef, Stilton and chutney – or a gooey Brie, bacon and cranberry panini. For those with a heartier appetite, there’s a menu of burgers, as well as an array of homemade pizza. If you’re hosting a private event, your choice of catering includes varied sandwich platters, finger buffets and expertly prepared canapés – get in touch to find out more.
