Neil Harding, proprietor and chef at Neil’s Restaurant, has over 30 years of cheffing experience and has created a fabulous seafood restaurant in Sidmouth. With huge windows looking out onto the street, Neil’s casts a welcoming glow onto the pavement outside, and as soon as you enter you’re enveloped in a welcoming atmosphere, with Neil visible in the kitchen.
His culinary speciality and passion is seafood and there’s not much he doesn’t know about it. Day boat fish and shellfish come from surrounding coastal waters, and you can check online to see what’s on the day’s menu. Chunky pieces of Brixham monkfish appear with an intense mushroom and paprika sauce, or you may find a line-caught Cornish sea bass fillet presented on top of a gorgeously delicate, creamy prawn and lemon risotto. Lyme Bay crab, lobster and scallops feature whenever possible. A powerful finale comes in the shape of Neil’s homemade creations: ice cream and sorbet. Experience a magical hit of rhubarb and ginger sorbet, or plump for creamy maple and walnut ice cream.
This is a neighbourhood restaurant in the true sense of the word, and whether or not it’s in your neighbourhood, it’s well worth making a trip to experience all it offers.
