The Cross Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Glyn and Claire Crosthwaite took over The Cross back in 2007 and have since set about gaining a reputation for providing excellent food and well-kept ales in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Glyn brings over 20 years of experience to the kitchen, having worked in some of Manchester and London's best restaurants. His menu offers food at the top-end of the pub fare repertoire, and a strong emphasis falls on sourcing ingredients from local farmers and producers. Pub favourites like beer-battered fish and chips and creamy cauliflower cheese can be found beside more contemporary choices such as goat's cheese and tomato lasagne, and garlic chicken served with mixed wild mushrooms.
With two children of their own, Glyn and Claire understand the importance of entertaining younger diners, so toys and colouring books are in place to keep them amused. The skittle alley is popular with locals, as is the fortnightly quiz, which supports the local village playgroup.
The Cross Inn is really wonderful - lucky you if you've stumbled upon it already. And if you haven't, we urge you to hurry along as soon as you can.
