The House in the Tree is back on the map. Newly refurbished inside and out, this 500-year-old former hunting lodge combines a comfortable and charming dining atmosphere with an enviable reputation for home-cooked traditional and seasonal fare. Situated on the outskirts of Cheltenham, just a couple of miles from The Golden Valley and Kingsditch Retail Park, The House will take you away from all the hustle and bustle of busy Cheltenham Town. Set against the backdrop of the Cotswold Hills, the beautiful countryside practically laps at the front doors.

The team of three new chefs have numerous years of experience, gained mainly in the local area and in quality restaurants in London. They all have an enthusiasm for presenting the very best cuisine in the area and concentrate on finding the finest locally sourced ingredients and suppliers to offer a broad range of country favourites, such as steak and ale pie and game pie, as well as more modern classic dishes like pasta, lamb shanks and steak and chips. For those wanting an early dinner the 'Early Bird' menu means you can eat from just £4.95, Monday to Friday. For the more adventurous, the weekly specials board offers something just a little different, offering local game such as roasted pheasant, partridge and rabbit, all served with delightful accompaniments and irresistible sauces. Specials change each week, so you'll have to keep coming back to find out what's on offer.

The House's Sunday carvery is quickly becoming a Cheltenham favourite, with booking essential to ensure a seat for your party. From noon until 6pm there is a weekly choice of three roast meats, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, real pork crackling and seven vegetables, all served up with Gloucestershire's tastiest gravy.

Two spacious car parks, large family gardens and a paddock lead to the inviting entrances; sample either the olde world inglenook bar for pre-dinner drinks or one of the three country dining areas where you will be greeted warmly by the new owners and their staff.
