Located right in the centre of town amid Cheltenham's vibrant shops, bars and theatres, The Copa of Cheltenham is something of an urban oasis. It's a fantastic spot for business people, tourists, shoppers and theatre-goers alike, who can enjoy a casual drink, rejuvenating snack or sophisticated meal in the relaxed atmosphere.

Inside, The Copa is tasteful and modern, incorporating comfortable furnishings and homely touches without compromising on style. The outdoor beer garden, meanwhile, provides a lovely space for alfresco drinking and dining - what better way to spend a glorious summer's day?

The chefs take pride in working with the best raw ingredients they can get their hands on, all the while keeping prices reasonable and dishes inventive. To begin, the likes of crushed haricot and butterbean dip with flatbread and crudités, potted smoked mackerel with watercress and lemon, and the salad of Shropshire blue, pear and walnut exemplify the broad range and high standards of The Copa's culinary offerings. Such starters may be hard acts to follow, but the chefs have made sure the bar is well and truly met with an exciting selection of mains. Think breaded halloumi with pico-de-gallo and skin-on chips, stuffed chicken atop sunblushed tomato and spinach risotto, and slow-cooked pork belly with a brandy and apple jus.

After all of that, you may well be feeling a little full, but we have a sneaking suspicion you'll be able to find room for dessert. Bramley apple tarte tatin with candied walnuts and toffee sauce, marmalade and ginger biscuit potted cheesecake and indulgent dark belgian chocolate torte with salted caramel hazelnuts will more than likely prove too much to resist.

If you're visiting The Copa to quench your thirst rather than curb your hunger, then pull up a pew at the bar and make your selection from the ample choice of beverages. The teas and speciality coffees are great pick-me-ups, but if you're after something a little stronger, cast your eye to the backbar and choose from the array of premium spirits and wines. Lagers, cider and real ale are, of course, also available at the pumps. Classic cocktails are also a speciality. On your next trip into town, don't pass by The Copa without dropping in.
