Blue Plate Bar, Seafood & Grill Restaurant
Close to the beach in Downderry, near to Rame Head and Looe, sits Blue Plate Bar, Seafood & Grill Restaurant. As you step inside this diverse venue, the smell of artisan coffee, baked sourdough, crab tarts and fruit scones will no doubt tempt you. Dogs are welcome in the deli and café throughout the day and in the evening.
Blue Plate proprietors Simon and Sam have created a relaxed and stylish, boutique coastal dining experience with an innovative menu that celebrates local produce, day-boat-caught fish and seafood, pasture-reared meat and local organic veg and salad. You can enjoy al fresco dining all day until late. Cornish gin, cocktails and a well-stocked bar complement the fantastic menu.
You can expect attentive service from Sam and Simon’s crew. Start with their famous crab and prawn cocktail or try the anchovy fritters. Alternatively, choose from 28-day-dry-matured Chateaubriand and rib-eye steaks. A brand-new artisan sourdough pizza selection includes the pizza bianco topped with wild garlic pesto, artichoke, Cornish Yarg and rocket. The specials board offers lobster Caesar salad alongside seasonal dishes showcasing local produce. Finish with sticky triple ginger treacle pudding and caramel sauce or the Cornish cheeseboard.
The Pickled Shrimp Apartment offers a coastal retreat with two double bedrooms, spectacular sea views and contemporary coastal decor – this really is the perfect Cornish getaway.
