The Wild Beer Co
Since opening last year, Wild Beer has become one of Bristol’s most popular watering holes. On a sunny day, the deckchairs and al fresco seating become prime real estate, as people vie for the best spot in which to soak up the sun and harbourside views while enjoying Wild Beer’s brews.
We popped in one gloriously sunny evening and took a seat in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the water. From our pew, we could bask in the sunlight and watch the crowds passing by – there’s definitely a Continental feel to dining this way. My husband went up to peruse the boards displaying the beer on offer, eventually choosing a refreshing Pilsner from around 20 varieties on draught. The Wild Beer crew offers tasters so you can sample a few and really broaden your palate – no wonder it’s so popular with Bristol’s beer-lovers. There’s also an impressive selection of gin, and a carefully compiled wine list designed to complement the menu.
With that in mind, I ordered a glass of rosé to accompany my rocket and feta salad with almonds and honey vinaigrette. My husband couldn’t resist fish and chips, and opted for Cuban panko with mojo sauce. We also sampled sides of Southern fried buttermilk sardines, which were a superb addition to my salad, and some incredible goat’s cheese with candied pecans. We’ll definitely be back to sample more of the menu, and to discover a new beer or two.
