Sometimes CVs can be a misleading representation of talent. I am pleased to report that this is nothing like the case at Greens' Dining Room on Zetland Road. The best possible neighbourhood restaurant, Greens' has been impressing locals with its menu of classic European dishes, with a dash of Asian influence providing that extra something special. Brothers Andrew and Simon Green (see chef profile page 79) have demonstrated their culinary flair at a number of nationally renowned restaurants, including Bristol's own riverstation and Glass Boat, and with Louise Green's front-of-house talents apparent to all who enter, the Greens' family venture is proving extremely popular.

The restaurant itself is fresh and immaculately clean with bright wall art resulting in an altogether welcoming scene. Menus change regularly (daily offerings are displayed on their website) and are put together according to what these talented chefs can lay their hands on in terms of fresh exceptional produce. Saturday and Sunday brunch is a rare treat and pulls you in with the promise of avocado and bacon salad, smoked haddock risotto with a poached egg and that most American of all dishes, pancakes with smoked bacon and maple syrup. Go down the à la carte route in the evening and be treated to two courses for £19.50 and three for £25, with dishes representing the innovation and creativity going on in the kitchen. Try confit aubergine with goat's cheese and tapenade, or lamb kibbeh with tzatziki and grilled flat bread to start and your tastebuds will receive an exciting workout. Follow those up with spinach and ricotta dumplings, tomato compote and crispy sage and you'll be booking your next visit. With smooth rich chocolate pot and shortbread to finish this diner was satisfied and smiling from ear to ear.

The lunchtime menu sees a set lunch offered for £10 and lets you choose two courses out of three. Other midday dishes like battered pollock, chips, salad and aioli make the most of sustainable produce from the south's coastal waters. With food this good, it wont be long before this place becomes a Bristol institution.
