Delightful modern takes on classic afternoon teas and a range of tempting brunch and lunch options await at North Street’s independent Margot May. As we entered, the cheery and colourful surrounds, the friendly staff came straight to our assistance. After much time spent pondering over the menu, we opted for one afternoon tea and a toasted veggie sandwich to share. My sweet chai pu’er tea was a dream – perfectly spicy and warming with honey and steamed milk. We began with the roasted sweet potato and aromatic hummus toasted sandwich, which was bursting with flavour. The afternoon tea comprised generous finger sandwiches made using rustic bread sourced from Mark’s Bread – the chilli jam, feta and walnut sandwich didn’t disappoint. The nutty medley cookie and lemon and berry drizzle cake were unsurprisingly delicious, and a freshly baked banana scone topped it all off. Using local producers and catering for all dietary preferences, Margot May is a must-visit.
