Change is afoot at this lively city centre venue - the kitchen facilities and restaurant have been revamped and the Environmental Health Office recently awarded them five stars for their stirling efforts and excellent setting. They are currently in the process of launching the new restaurant, serving a fresh Sunday roast every week from midday until 5pm, evening meals throughout the week, and a lunchtime menu to eat in or take away.

They take pride in offering great food at great prices, and their aim is to keep main-course prices under £10 while still providing fresh, fine foods. Traditional dishes on the menu include classic ham, egg and chips, cod, scampi and gammon, while the chef's specials tempt you with rump steaks, a 12-inch wild boar and apple sausage served with chips or mash, and salmon and dill fish cakes. Snacks include paninis, sandwiches and salads - all fresh and delicious.

Don't worry though - there is still plenty of the well-loved evening entertainment, for which The Griffin is known, on offer. Special nights include a Tuesday quiz and the renowned 'curryoke' every Thursday, with a selection of curries served with naan bread and the pint of your choice or, if you prefer, a glass of wine. So for good times and great food, give The Griffin a try - you'll be glad you did.
