Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Minutes from Clifton Village, Park Street and Whiteladies Road, The Eldon House is superbly situated, and yet you could be forgiven for never having noticed it. Tucked away down a side street, this sense of discovering it for yourself adds to the appeal. It feels like a proper local, and one with quiet, understated class.
You'll find a good selection of wines and ciders, and of course some excellent Bath Ales. My current favourite is the organic Wild Hare. I don't know if it's my imagination, but I'm sure I can taste some actual goodness in there?
Food at The Eldon House is well worth trying. Expect home-made soups and savoury pancakes at lunchtime and hearty rib eye steaks and ham, egg and chips in the evening.
But my favourite is a long Sunday lunch, pint on the side, and a whole afternoon to enjoy it.
