Found just metres from Stokes Croft, probably Bristol's most vibrant and cultural area, this pub is a great place to simply enjoy yourself. Head here with friends during a crawl around Bristol's finest ale-providing pubs, or for a lunch by the fire with your family. With local artwork adorning the walls only adding to its community appeal, this place is a must for all - residents have made it a local favourite.

We arrived for Sunday lunch and found a seat in the covered rear garden under an electric heater. If you fancy eating inside, there are plenty of cosy corners to take advantage of. My companion chose the hearty chicken roast (a choice of meat was available), served with all the trimmings, while I opted for the salmon steak in a ginger and soy sauce. The portions were more than generous, but we couldn't resist sharing a chocolate brownie with a fruity sauce to finish. During the week, other tempting treats are also served. Try a chicken and avocado wrap to accompany something from The Bell's fine selection of Butcombe beers - they stock Bitter, Gold, Rare Breed and Blond Premium among others. We enjoyed some Ashton Press cider with our food - a wonderful taste of the West Country to suit the occasion
