The Orchard Inn

The Orchard Inn boasts a selection of ciders the size and variety of which would astound even the most devoted West Country cider drinker. Declared 'National Cider Pub 2009' by CAMRA, The Orchard serves over 20 real and traditional ciders at any one time.

The food is just as varied, with specials including rabbit, pheasant, duck and venison. The wholesome lunch menu also offers hearty favourites such as homemade stew and corned beef hash. At other times, filling French-stick sarnies, pork pies, pasties and Scotch eggs are available to help the cider go down. Prices are well below average - expect to pay under £3 for a pint for cider, just £5 for a main meal and under £3 for a French-stick sarnie.

Located at the heart of the docks, just two minutes from the historic SS Great Britain and on the number 500 bus route (catch the bus from Temple Meads train station or Bristol bus station and get off at Spike Island art gallery), this one-roomed bar oozes warmth and friendliness. There is a strong sense of community among the staff and regulars, any of whom will be eager to talk to you about their favourite brew. Add to this a wonderfully eclectic jukebox and frequent live music, and you've got a truly memorable experience in a one-of-a-kind back-street boozer.
