The Four Seasons Restaurant is hidden away in the lovely Limpley Stoke Valley. Enjoy stunning views across the valley when arriving in daylight. The helpful, friendly staff took our drinks order and offered us canapés. We perused the menu and wine list and placed our orders, and when the food was ready, we were taken to the restaurant and seated at our table, next to the window overlooking the grounds.

The food was well presented and freshly prepared. For £35 per person we had an aperitif, three-course dinner and a glass of wine each. Such a gem of a place, and so close to home, too. The menu changes
each season and there are daily specials.

We dined on a tian of roasted peppers and crayfish bound in a lime and chive mayonnaise; and leaves of smoked salmon dressed over a slice of fresh pineapple with créme fraiche and caviar garnish. Next it was medallions of monkfish tail on a bed of bubble and squeak with a rich tomato sauce; and calf's liver cooked slightly pink and served on an orange and chive mash with Dubonnet sauce - along with a healthy portion of fresh vegetables.

Dessert was an order of crispy raspberry and pecan pancakes, and peach and almond cheesecake. We
retired to the lounge for our coffee, and agreed that The Four Seasons was excellent
