Surrounded by countryside so beautiful that it inspired Thomas Hardy to write some of his greatest works, The Ring O' Bells is a true English country pub.
Inside, low ceilings with black oak beams create a quaint, intimate feel, while rustic wooden furnishings and large fireplaces give the place a traditional, vintage edge. Outside there's a lovely garden, overlooking the rolling Mendip Hills, that's just perfect for alfresco dining in the warm summer sun. The recently added dining area (Hinton Room), used to be part of the cottage next door, and, along with the Blewett Room, can be used for private functions and large dinner parties. The Hinton Room has its own secret garden, which is separate to the pub's main beer garden and boules court.
The main menu changes daily, with chalkboards showcasing some of the finest fresh produce from the surrounding fields, lakes and woodlands. Every Thursday is steak night, with a selection of succulent steaks all for an amazing £10; Friday night offers fresh market fish on the specials board; and Sunday roasts are very popular. Desserts are all homemade - you'll find classics such as treacle tart, as well as a locally sourced cheeseboard. If you're undecided as to which beverage to opt for, look no further than the local awardwinning Butcombe bitter - there are also guest ales that change weekly, and keep an eye out for the 'brewers of the month'.
