The West Gate

0.5 miles
38 Westgate Street, Bath, BA1 1EL
Dating back to 1611 and originally a coaching inn complete with resident ghost, Alice, The West Gate is a cosy retreat offering free Wi-Fiduring the day and transforming into a buzzing cosmopolitan hub by night. Duck and hoisin and halloumi flatbreads feature on the menu, as do South Indian samosas and seasonal specials. The hand-pressed burgers are simply outstanding and pub classics such as steak and ale pie and fish and chips won't fail to impress. For indecisive diners, the dessert board is sure to pose an enjoyable puzzle, with fluffy white chocolate and pistachio cheesecake and chocolate and walnut brownie on offer. For me, the clotted cream ice cream was velvety perfection on a plate. Prominently placed just moments from Bath Pump Rooms, city slick meets classic elegance here, with an exciting dish for every palate. Make sure to search for The Westgate on Facebook to keep up to date with all the great offers.
