The Lands End
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Lands End Lane, Twyford, Reading, RG10 0UE
The Lands End lies on the bank of the River Lodden, close to some prime fishing locations. On the rural outskirts of Twyford, this idyllic locale is also situated next to a wild-bird sanctuary. Nevertheless it is still within walking (or cycling) distance of Woodley and Twyford and the pub provides extensive parking for those coming from further afield. The Lands End offers a menu featuring all the usual pub favourites, such as steak and ale pie, fish and chips, lasagne and scampi as well as some more opulent dishes - salmon, sweet potato and coriander fishcakes and breast of chicken in a Portobello mushroom and Madeira sauce. Light lunches are available daily, and you can order from a selection of steaks in the evenings; there is even a specials board, which changes on a regular basis. Sunday roasts are an absolute must here, served from midday until 3.30pm and offered alongside a wide selection of other dishes.
Dining alfresco in the summer is always popular here, with a large patio and garden surrounding the pub. A number of Morris teams visit each year and you may even find the resident peacocks putting on their own display. A recently added extension is now available for hire; seating up to 50 people this new venue is perfect for private parties. The Lands End offers good quality food at reasonable prices in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, welcoming families as well as those just popping in for a drink and a chat.
