The Dog & Duck
Visitors to The Dog & Duck will be delighted by the pub’s recent renovation. The restaurant dates back to the 1770s and now boasts a tasteful interior that blends traditional aesthetics like oak beams, exposed brickwork and large sash windows with modern comfort and a welcoming atmosphere. When it’s cold outside you can stay warm thanks to the pub’s wood-burning stove, and during summer guests enjoy barbeques in the pub’s tranquil garden.
Upon entering, take a seat in one of the cosy booths and peruse the varied menu of British pub classics. Sharers are a great way to begin a meal with friends – the greengrocer’s board is a firm favourite and comprises vegetarian dishes such as marinated courgette, aubergine, Borretane onions, artichoke and hummus. Other tempting appetisers include the pulled pork, sage and mustard croquette, gluten-free curried salmon fishcakes, and salt and pepper squid.
All of the pizzas are made fresh to order in the pub’s own pizza oven, guaranteeing freshness and flavour. The burgers are also a popular option with many diners, with a classic beef burger and a buttermilk chicken burger on offer, as well as a vegetarian mushroom and halloumi option. Other tasty mains include haddock and chips, king prawn and chorizo linguine and vegan spiced chickpea and potato cakes. On Sunday, you can bring the whole family for a delicious carvery, where a selection of meat served with all the trimmings is served with lashings of gravy.
The Dog & Duck also regularly plays host to special events and evenings including quiz nights and an after school pizza deal both parents and kids alike can get stuck into.
