Set on Woking's bustling High Street, L'Aroma restaurant is perfectly situated for diners after a flavour of Italy for lunch or dinner. Perhaps enjoy a meal here before heading to the New Victoria Theatre for a show, or following a day exploring this historic town. There is plenty to do here and L'Aroma, located just a short walk from Woking's mainline train station, offers the perfect setting in which to relax, refuel and unwind. Beautiful Italian decor, traditional wooden tables and chairs, together with an open kitchen where you can see your food being prepared from scratch, all add to the wonderful character and charm of this restaurant.

We ordered a small carafe of house wine and were given a basket of warm crusty bread, served with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We chose starters of Caprese tricolore - buffalo mozzarella, tomato and avocado with basil oil - as well as, from the chef's special menu, the beef carpaccio served with a squeeze of fresh lemon, extra virgin olive oil, shaved Parmesan and rocket. The ravioli pasta is freshly made on the premises every day, and my partner was delighted with his main of seafood spaghetti, served with mussels, clams, calamari and king prawns aplenty. I chose the traditional dish of pollo cacciatore - succulent chicken breast in a rich tomato, sweet pepper, fresh chilli, garlic and mushroom sauce, served with broccoli, roasted carrots and potatoes. The desserts are freshly made in the restaurant - so fresh that we spied the chef whisking the eggs for my zabaglione on the spot. My partner chose the fonduta di cioccolato - a melted warm dark chocolate fondue served with fresh fruit and profiteroles. We were also impressed to see that L'Aroma offers an excellent lunch menu featuring some of their tastiest main-menu dishes - £5 will buy you one course while you can enjoy two courses for £7. The children's menu, which offers the bambinos one course plus ice cream and a soft drink, is only £5.95.

L'Aroma has a wonderful bustling atmosphere, and if you're looking for a venue for that special occasion or conference, there's a private room available for hire that's just perfect
