8-9 Church Street, Windsor, SL4 1PE
Found within a stone's throw of Windsor Castle, the oldest occupied castle in the world, the Thai River guarantees a royal welcome for all its customers. Situated in a cobbled pedestrianised street, the restaurant marries that most challenging of bedfellows - old and new - with aplomb.

The bow windows, wooden floor and two magnificent chandeliers, together with modern chinaware and a fresh gerbera sitting proudly on each table, combine to create a charming and comfortable setting for dining. The outside cobbled terrace is the perfect retreat for some peaceful alfresco dining during summer - the ideal traffic-free haven.

The menu is extensive and will suit even the choosiest of diners. The starter of tom yum spicy - sweet and sour soup with mushrooms and prawns or chicken - is guaranteed to warm your cockles. The main of shu shi prawns is one of the most popular dishes on the menu - a fact that is far from surprising once you sample the succulent king prawns bathed in a red curry sauce, simmered with flavoursome Thai basil and lime leaves. Drinks-wise, the high standards continue. The wine list is extensive and fairly priced, and be sure not to miss their speciality, tamarind juice, which I would highly recommend. With efficient and friendly service on top of all this, Thai River is hard to beat.
