77 High Street, Eton, Windsor, SL4 6AF
This elegantly English inn is nestled on Eton's charming High Street, just across the bridge from Windsor Castle. Whether you're a tourist looking for an authentic taste of England or a local after a relaxing drink, the George Inn provides the perfect setting - and it's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. The menu sees traditional British cuisine offered alongside superb signature dishes.

The tastefully bedecked 300-year-old building houses a bar and a restaurant, which is set within a classic lounge area with beautifully candlelit tables. Alternatively make the most of the delightful surrounds by eating alfresco on the patio outside, which is able to seat up to 120 people. On our visit, the weather didn't allow us to dine outdoors; we were instead warmed by the cosy interior and sumptuous food. After much deliberation we decided on the starter of boxed Camembert, baked with caramelised onions and served with crusty bread, which was irresistibly tasty.

Our main of braised lamb shank cooked with rosemary and red wine, resting on champ mash and served with seasonal vegetables, was also delicious, leaving us with no decision-making regrets. The lip-smackingly good desserts, along with the wide-ranging wine list, added the final touches to an already unbeatable evening.
