Built in the 17th Century, this impressive building has been serving fine food for over 100 years. The wood-panelled walls and original mouldings make you feel as if you are stepping back in time as soon as you cross its threshold. We soon forgot the cold February air outside as we were greeted by a warming open fire and equally amiable staff.

The menu is full of traditional English dishes such as grilled steak and venison haunch, plus delicious vegetarian options - the fabulous quiche is recommended. My wife chose the scrumptious Yorkshire pudding and gravy to start, followed by steak and mushroom pie, which was home-cooked to perfection. I opted for a starter of carrot and coriander soup, with lamb stew and dumplings to follow - both were delightfully comforting. The house speciality cream teas were not easy to resist, but we had our eyes firmly set on the traditional desserts of bread-and-butter pudding and Knickerbocker Glory - they brought back wonderful memories of childhood.

Situated right beside Windsor Castle's King Henry VIII gates, Drury House evokes a wonderful sense of history, which you can enjoy whilst tucking in to some quality, homemade and above all mouth-watering food.
