The Avenue Restaurant
Situated in such a convenient location, and something of a treasure trove for history buffs, the hotel also serves some absolutely mouth-watering modern European cuisine. At The Avenue Restaurant visitors can marvel at some truly awesome sights from the window - the restaurant offers great views of the venue's famed mile-long stretch of lime trees - while choosing a delicacy from the menu. At The Avenue there are many delicious appetisers to choose from, such as smoked pigeon breast with roasted fig, black pudding and apple sauce. As well as a selection of ever-changing, seasonal main courses, the restaurant also boasts an intriguing tasting menu. By choosing this option diners can get a real taste of what executive head chef Andy Mackenzie (chef profile page 86) has to offer, and pleasingly there is also a vegetarian tasting menu.
Choosing one of the many desserts is a wonderful way to wrap things up, or why not end your visit to the hotel with a trip to The Cedar Bar. Here visitors can indulge in one of the many wines, beers or cocktails on offer, and in brighter weather they can take their beverages out onto The Terrace - a tranquil part of the building that boasts supreme views of the surrounding countryside. Sublime.
