The Railway Inn
Situated between the villages of Botley and Curdridge, The Railway Inn is a friendly, family-owned and run pub where delicious food is the main focus. To complete the family feel, the pub’s dog is never far from sight, and other four-legged friends are just as welcome. During the summer, the beautiful garden is an idyllic spot in which to spend a leisurely afternoon.
We started our meal by sharing a gooey Camembert served with crostini and a cranberry and orange jam; it was an absolute delight. For the main event, I opted for the homemade vegan curry of the day. The team is extremely accommodating to dietary requirements, so you won’t have any trouble finding an option to suit you. I polished off every mouthful of my aromatic sweet potato, chickpea and spinach curry accompanied by cardamom-scented jasmine rice and crisp flatbread. My partner plumped for the mushroom and broccoli pappardelle alfredo complete with deliciously creamy garlic sauce, which proved to be every bit as delicious as it sounds.
The spacious bar is stocked with locally brewed ale, carefully selected wine and a variety of soft drinks – the pub’s drink offering covers all bases. The Railway Inn is also renowned for its sumptuous Sunday roast with a choice of slow-roasted meat and a vegan nut roast – we can’t wait to come back and try it.
