Wine Bar and Bistro
A good selection of specials are listed on the blackboard, all of which change regularly, and there is an excellent regular menu and an extensive wine list. We chose two classic starters: grilled goat's cheese with crispy bacon and pine nuts, and tiger prawns with chilli and lime butter. Both were exquisite.
My excellent main course of penne pasta with wild mushrooms, pesto, cream and Parmesan was a featured special, and we also tried pan-fried duck breast with orange and rosemary and a rainbow of glazed vegetables. The duck was succulent and cooked to perfection. Of the desserts, we partook of the moist orange and ginger sponge pudding.
With their 25th anniversary imminent, it's easy to see why The Wine Bar & Bistro is so successful. The presentation and quality of food are superb, and the service is attentive yet unobtrusive. This venue makes an ideal location for a celebration with friends or a romantic meal for two - or simply take time out to enjoy a memorable lunch with a co-worker.
