The Old Swan Inn is at the heart of the delightful village of Old Minster, on the River Windrush between Witney and Burford. Old Minster is full of beautiful, picture-postcard Cotswold stone houses; the inn itself maintains its stone and beamed interior, flagstone floors and nooks and crannies.

Fittingly, the menu is best described as quintessentially English, with dishes focusing on locally sourced ingredients. Indeed, much of the meat is supplied by a farm in the village - as local as you can get - and an à la carte menu provides classic starters such as ham hock terrine with homemade piccalilli and Parma ham with Oxford blue cheese and figs. Main dishes include beer-battered fish and chips and herb-crusted pork belly. In addition, there is a specials menu which changes daily and includes delights such as an amazing rack of new season's Berkshire Downs lamb. Seasonality is celebrated at The Old Swan and vegetarians can rest assured they are well catered for too.

The Old Swan is now owned by the de Savary family, who are determined to ensure diners have an unforgettable dining experience. I for one am still talking about my evening at this delightful inn - and something tells me it won't be too long until I find myself in Old Minster once more.
