Millenium Madejski Hotel Reading, Madejski Stadium, Reading, RG2 0FL
Reading's Madejski Stadium, close to Junction 11 of the M4, might be well known as a centre of sporting excellence, but it also boasts an international hotel and fine-dining restaurant, Cilantro. Head chef Denzil Newton has a passion for turning simple, fresh, seasonal, UK-sourced ingredients into delicious and exquisitely presented dishes - a skill refined while working for such renowned establishments as The Ritz and The Ivy. Denzil also believes that dining should not just be about consuming a few dishes, but rather enjoying a development of tastes. The two and three-course menus are priced at £38 and £49 respectively, with canapés on arrival. Sample dishes include Nanny Williams blue goat's cheese soufflé with Granny Smith apple sorbet and micro leaf salad; braised brill served with potato strudel, Romanesco purée and tomato fondue; and warm pistachio cake with chocolate mousse wrapped in cherry tuille, with cherry sorbet and a pistachio cream. Classic dishes are just as important to the Cilantro team, so choices like 20oz chateaubriand, classically carved at your table, also feature on the menu. Also available is a seven-course menu gourmand at £49.50. The fully comprehensive wine list offers a well-rounded selection, with prices varying between £21.50 and £250.

The hotel itself comprises 201 en-suite rooms, two purpose-built, fully equipped meeting rooms, full leisure facilities, two restaurants and a spacious bar area. Home to Reading Football Club and London Irish Rugby Football Club, the Millennium Madejski Hotel offers match-day dining and accommodation too
