The Bull Inn
Modern British

The pretty village of Stanford Dingley is home to The Bull Inn, where we received an incredibly warm welcome and excellent service. The menus vary in size from light sandwiches to a full à la carte menu, with a range of innovative and exciting dishes on offer. My companion chose the goat’s cheese and pancetta risotto to start, and I went for the twice-baked cheese soufflé with creamy courgettes. Both starters were delicious and a wonderful prelude to our meal. To follow we had roasted cod with serrano ham, chorizo and new potatoes, and tender sirloin steak with grilled mushrooms and chunky chips. These dishes were thoughtfully presented and beautifully cooked. The chef recommended the chocolate fondant to finish, accompanied by two scoops of homemade vanilla and mango ice cream. Unfortunately we had no room left to sample the superb local cheese selection – never mind, there’s always next time.
