The Red Lion - Reading
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
5 Church Street, Theale, Reading, RG7 5BU
Nick and Lynne took over The Red Lion in July 2009, putting the 'ale' back into Theale. The Red Lion has now been turned back into a traditional village pub, offering traditional homemade fare from an extensive menu of home-cooked cuisine. Three Cask-Marque-accredited real ales are always available, together with ciders, lagers, wines and soft drinks. Set in the village of Theale, The Red Lion lies just five miles west of Reading, separated from its suburbs by the M4. This is a great place to simply slip out of the office to and enjoy a great pint of real ale and some delicious food, choosing from a varied menu and a selection of homemade daily specials. With years of experience in the pub trade and ideas aplenty, Nick and Lynne offer a warm welcome to locals and visitors alike. Providing a Sunday roast served between noon and 4pm every Sunday means there's plenty of time for a lie in before the best meal of the week. Nick and Lynne also host a quiz night every Wednesday starting at 8pm. The skittle alley and function room is available for parties, special occasions, meetings or training - all events can be catered for with banquets for all budgets. A beer garden and terrace provides a wonderful sun trap during the summer months, and these are warmed by a covered heater during the winter - come rain or shine, The Red Lion is the perfect place to wind down with your favourite drink. Whether you're looking for a place to meet with friends, somewhere to hold a business meeting, making use of their free WiFi service, or after the perfect pit-stop on a family outing, this excellent village pub is warm, friendly and inviting.
