Ancient beams, comfy sofas, a lively atmosphere and roaring log fires await you in this characterful 17th-century pub. The regularly changing menu offers upmarket versions of pub classics, all homemade on the premises and prepared from locally sourced ingredients where possible. Enjoy rib-eye steak or shoulder of lamb with red wine jus, or visit on a Sunday for a great roast. The desserts are beautifully presented; it’s hard to resist sticky toffee pudding with lashings of sauce, served with caramel ice cream and topped with honeycomb pieces. As well as a range of real ale, wine and soft drinks, they also serve excellent coffee. Regular events include quiz nights and free live music, and The Plough can also cater for special events. There’s an attractive terrace and a large garden with a children’s play area, and the pub’s location makes it ideal for walks along the Weald Way and visits to Michelham Priory.
