The family-owned independent Picture House Cinema has been a stalwart of Uckfield’s busy High Street for over 100 years. Celebrating its centenary in 2016, this state-of-the-art cinema shows all the latest flicks, and even opened its own restaurant just across the street in 2014.

Owner Tansy Markwick and head chef Barry Ashford create delicious seasonal dishes with imaginative flair, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Whether you fancy a light bite with a friend or an evening of fine dining, there is something for everyone. Ingredients are locally sourced and dishes cooked fresh to order. The pork tenderloin with black pudding and caramelised

apple, served with celeriac rosti and cider jus comes highly recommended, as does the hearty and highly popular Kevin Bacon burger, comprising a homemade beef patty, onion rings, Monterey Jack cheese and smoky barbecue sauce. Freshly cooked pizzas are made to order and cooked in the authentic wood-fired ovens, affording them exceptional flavour.

Since opening its doors the restaurant has built a fantastic reputation not only for its food but for its special events, cinema tie-ins and great atmosphere, too. There’s plenty of meal deals for both film and theatre events that include a ticket and a plate for a set price. They also operate a highly rewarding membership scheme, which offers free film tickets and discounts at both the cinema and restaurant.
