High Street, Alfriston , BN26 5TA
Walking along Alfriston High Street is like walking back in time. The timber-framed buildings and stone walls all add to the impression that time simply forgot to take this village with it. This sense of history, of countless people passing through, is something that can be found in every nook and cranny of The Star at Alfriston, which was built in the 1260s and boasts a breathtaking timber facade. Indeed, the inn's traditional charm makes it a popular choice for wedding receptions and special occasions.

Inside, the inn evolves as you wander through the atmospheric rooms of the original building to the sophisticated and chic hotel and restaurant beyond. The mood of the place is classy yet unassuming, the cream walls offset by the dark beams overhead.

n the comfortable restaurant, the rosette-awarded head chef creates spectacularly presented delights - our starters looked fantastic and tasted just as good. The tasty duck salad, featuring succulent duck atop fresh crisp salad, is an absolute must-try starter.

The main courses, some Continental, some British, are all impeccable in their presentation and taste. The talented chef presented us with lamb cooked to melt-in-the-mouth perfection and tender pork beautifully offset by red cabbage. From the warm and welcoming staff and the fascinating history right through to the gorgeous food, The Star at Alfriston is a slice of history you'll want to make sure you're a part of.
