Best Western Frensham Pond Hotel
Overlooking the picture-perfect hotel grounds, with oak trees and 60 acres of water, is The Watermark Restaurant. Here, the views are showcased thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, and are paired with exemplary service and delicious food. Our visit began in the sleek Indigo Bar & Lounge, where we sampled from the tempting range of tipples, before making our way to the restaurant for a wonderful three-course meal. Al dente asparagus in Hollandaise sauce, and crostini topped with chorizo and mushrooms in red wine sauce kicked off our meal. My appetite aptly whet, I next chose pan-fried stone bass with homemade pesto. Eager to sample something from the grill, my partner selected 28-day-aged Casterbridge rib-eye steak, perfectly cooked to order. To finish, we chose juicy British strawberries in brandy snap baskets paired with sweet homemade ice cream. This 15th-century waterside venue also boasts 53 spacious bedrooms, and can host conferences, events and even weddings.
