Just minutes from the market town of Farnham yet nestled away from the hustle and bustle, The Bat & Ball boasts a lively bar with local ale, cider and gin, an offering of outstanding food and a wealth of character. Under the shelter of a vine-clad canopy, the beautiful patio is the perfect spot in which to enjoy refreshments, whilst the dog station is ideal for four-legged friends to savour special treats. The enticing seasonal menu focuses on the best local ingredients and offers diners traditional dishes and exciting specials, with an emphasis on seasonality.
We started with the devilled whitebait with granary bread, and tempura courgette flowers stuffed with goat’s cheese, ricotta and lemon verbena and served with pink peppercorn dipping sauce. Our delicious main courses were a sumptuous salad of roasted summer squash with avocado, smoked Stilton, pumpkin seeds, toasted spelt and kale, and from the specials board my partner savoured an antipasti-style platter comprising Parma ham, halloumi, chorizo, olives, sundried tomatoes, and crusty bread with harissa, olive oil and balsamic. Sweet-toothed diners won’t be disappointed by The Bat & Ball’s selection. We settled on desserts of lime and chocolate torte and border tart – a superb conclusion to our meal. With a fantastic children’s play area outdoors, regular live music and the famous annual summertime Bat Fest, The Bat & Ball has it all.
