The George Inn
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Dating back to the 17th century, The George Inn is a beautiful old-fashioned village pub with historic fireplaces, oak beams and open fires. Situated in the beautiful thatched village of Vernham Dean in the heart of the Test Valley, the surrounding area boasts some wonderful walking and cycling routes, as well as an abundance of traditional country pursuits. What better way to top off a day spent outside than with a hearty pub meal?
The pub has an excellent reputation among locals for serving delicious, great-quality food. The seasonally changing menu is created using the best locally sourced ingredients, including meat and vegetables from in and around Andover, and seafood from Brixham. The George is particularly well known for its homemade beer-battered fish and chips and Sunday roasts with all the trimmings, together with its fantastic selection of wine and five local real ales. The latest offering is wood-fired pizzas, which are handmade in a retro Citroën van; they’re available on Thursday and Friday evenings and all day Saturday. Welcoming dogs, children and muddy boots, The George Inn boasts a spacious beer garden and provides the quintessential British pub experience.
