John O'Gaunt Inn
At the beginning of 2017, The John O’Gaunt Inn was taken over by the talented team behind the Bankes Arms in Corfe Castle. Bringing with them spades of experience, drive and passion, the new owners have sought to uphold the pub’s station as the heart of the hamlet of Horsebridge – a true home-from-home for the community and those visiting the area. The friendly team has quickly become adept at tempting locals and hungry walkers inside with the promise of a genuinely warm welcome and freshly prepared, traditional pub food.
Surrounded by sweeping country views, The John O’Gaunt epitomises rustic charm. A whitewashed exterior adorned with hanging baskets, lanterns and eye-catching deer antlers draws visitors inside, where the atmosphere is as warm as a roaring log fire.
Diners can expect an ever-changing menu featuring locally sourced and award-winning produce. Think homemade rustic pâté, daily changing soups, fresh catches of Lymington crab and other seafood, home-baked gammon with hen’s eggs and classic ale-battered haddock and chips. After a stellar meal, a walk along the Test Way or the gentle, scenic Sprat and Winkle Line is the perfect way to end your visit to The John O’Gaunt.
