The George & Dragon is set in a stunning location, nestled amidst rolling green hills; the terrace and garden have breathtaking views across the South Downs National Park. It’s also reputed to be one of the oldest pubs in Sussex and boasts a country-style interior with ancient oak beams and a wonderful log fire in winter. Despite its rural location, this charming pub is within easy reach of Arundel, Chichester and the famous Goodwood Racecourse.
The service is welcoming and the food is wonderful, so it’s no wonder that The George & Dragon was crowned Les Routiers Pub of the Year in 2015. Owners Gavin and Carole aim to provide good, honest homemade food, including daily changing specials as well as weekly specials. The team makes as much as possible in-house, from the apple sauce made using their own apples to the chutney and mayonnaise.
All meals are freshly prepared and cooked to order, enabling them to cater for those with special dietary requirements. The motto here is ‘we don’t do fast food – we do good food as fast as we can’, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the country views and the roaring fire. With its stunning location, warm welcome and great food, The George & Dragon is understandably popular – make sure you book in advance.
