Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
The Anchor is a beautiful 300-year-old pub located at the terminus of Abbey Street, one of the finest preserved medieval streets in England, very close to the historic Faversham creek, and a few minutes’ stroll from the town centre.
Inside, The Anchor embraces its history, proudly showcasing exposed beams that are reported to have originally been part of Faversham Abbey. The menu is comprehensive and ranges from traditional classics, lunchtime snacks and baguettes to the celebrated hand-cut chips. Mains include ham and eggs – local cured ham and free-range eggs; beer-battered fish and chips – fresh cod loin in Shepherd Neame beer batter; and three bean chilli ‘non’ carne with homemade chapatti and rice. The Anchor is confident in the quality of its food, with a large portion of their produce coming straight from their own farm. The pub also endeavours to source the remaining ingredients from within a 25-mile radius, ensuring its freshness.
With a variety of real ales, live music every Sunday evening and a large, peaceful and well-kept garden, The Anchor is well worth seeking out and is a great place to stop when enjoying a stroll through historic Faversham or a peaceful walk or cycle along the creek.
