Shepperton Wine Bar & Grill
Pubs and Bars with Restaurants
Nestled among cosy cottages in a quaint, leafy square is Shepperton Wine Bar & Grill, a lively drinking and dining spot that fuses traditional charm with outstanding modern cuisine.
Greeted by staff so friendly they felt like old pals, we chatted at the bar while perusing the wine selection. The beautifully presented food passing us confirmed why this place calls itself a grill – meat-lovers will rejoice in the selection of chargrilled steaks and burgers, chicken and ribs. The slow-cooked ribs with a tangy barbecue glaze proved too much for my partner to resist. Generous in both size and flavour and gorgeously succulent, the ribs were a prime example of the chefs’ matchless skill when it comes to cooking meat to tender perfection. The menu, which changes frequently in line with the best seasonal produce available, offers a selection of fantastic vegetarian and fish dishes alongside the carnivorous options, and from these I opted for the wonderfully light, flaky sea bass with samphire and a side of moreish polenta chips. Be sure to leave room for pudding, as desserts like marbled hazelnut and chocolate cheesecake and the Shepperton Wine Bar & Grill’s sticky toffee pudding are not to be missed.
We liked this place so much that we’ve already booked to return. If you need further persuading, perhaps one of the guided riverside walks on a Sunday morning, ending with a traditional roast with all the trimmings, or cheese and wine evenings can entice you along.
