273 Thai Eatery
Chinese and East Asian
If you’re looking to sample traditional Thai cuisine in a warm, friendly atmosphere, this charming establishment is the perfect choice. Upon arrival we were greeted by the alluring aroma of authentic South East Asian dishes, which left us eagerly anticipating the meal to come. Inside, the decor is cosy and modern with a clear Thai influence – think golden statues, colourful art adorning the walls and fairy lights twinkling overhead.
The varied menu features a large selection of tempting meat and seafood dishes, alongside plenty of vegetarian options. We began our meal by sharing the mixed starter, which comprised six popular Thai plates including mouth-wateringly tender pork rib and refreshingly zesty fishcake. I opted to follow with Weeping Tiger, a melt-in-the-mouth grilled beef fillet that added a touch of theatre to the evening. The dish arrived on a sizzling griddle plate that was then doused in Cognac before being set alight by our waiter. My partner was equally impressed with her roasted duck, which was served with lashings of sweet-and-sour tamarind sauce, thin crispy noodles and seaweed. Intrigued by the dessert options, we sampled sticky rice and banana fritters with ice cream and fresh fruit.
The thoroughly delicious food and welcoming staff ensured our visit was memorable for all the right reasons. For a dining experience that offers something a little bit out of the ordinary, it doesn’t get better than 273 Thai Eatery.
