We arrived after the pre-show flurry and the manager led us upstairs to the galleried mezzanine, where the staff expertly took care of us. The main menu includes lots of salads, pasta dishes, meat and fish, and choosing was a difficult task.
First came smoked mackerel parfait - wonderful. I then sampled roasted aubergine with couscous and vegetables in a tomato ragout, which was equally magnificent, while my husband had creamy garlic mushrooms then a perfectly cooked sirloin steak with spring onion mash. Sharing dreamy, dark chocolate pecan tart and coffee, we peeked down at the bar below, now even more lively as late-night owls drifted in to meet up over cocktails or coffee.
Wines, beers, sodas and shots are available too, with bar nibbles, snacks and sandwiches served until 7.30pm. Pre-show diners pushed for time can pre-order dessert, returning after the show. Joe Daflos serves terrific lunches and full dinners. There's a special menu for parties and functions, and one for children too. The team are also now planning new seasonal menus, so book a table soon and discover them for yourself.
